Three masked robbers hit a Hollywood 7-Eleven early Monday.

Three armed robbers hit a Hollywood 7-Eleven convenience store early Monday, severely beat the clerk and took an undetermined amount of cash from the register, police said.

The three males all wore black clothing with hoods over their heads and bandanas over their faces when they entered the store at 3451 Sheridan St. at about 2:30 a.m. Monday.

One of the robbers forced the clerk into the back office, beat him about the head and face and fired a handgun. Although, the bullet didn't strike the victim, "he was beat up pretty good," said Police Lt. Nicole Coffin.

The robbers then removed a drawer from the store's cash register and fled. After police responded to the robbery, the clerk, whose named was not released, was taken to the intensive care unit of Memorial Regional Hospital.
