July 4 forecast: Mostly sunny and hot

Independence Day should be a great day to fire up the barbecue, play outdoors and watch fireworks.

That is, if you don't mind heat, as feels-like temperatures are expected to approach 100 degrees. Also, this being South Florida, there's always the chance of an afternoon shower or isolated thunderstorm.

Officially, the July 4 forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with highs in the low 90s and lows in the upper 70s. There is a 20 percent chance of rain. It also should be a bit breezy.

For boaters, the marine forecast calls for 2-foot seas, east winds up to 15 mph and a moderate chop.

Expect mostly sunny and hot conditions straight through the weekend, although the rain chance increases to 30 percent on Thursday.

As for the tropics: Quiet.
