The Miami Hurricanes' assault on the record books continues.

UM moved up to No. 2 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, the highest ranking in school history. The `Canes broke a record set the previous week, when they had moved up to No. 3 in the polls.

UM (21-3) received 20 first-place votes in this week's poll.

Miami, which has won 13 straight games, is coming off a 45-43 win at Clemson Sunday night and a 74-69 win at rival Florida State Feb. 13.

The Hurricanes are 12-0 in the the ACC, the best league start since Duke went 16-0 en route to the conference title in 1998-99.

Indiana remained the No. 1 team for the second consecutive week, earning 43 first-place votes. Miami supplanted Duke, which lost at Maryland on Saturday night, at No. 2. Gonzaga is ranked third with two first-place votes. Michigan State is No. 4 and Florida is No. 5.

UM, chasing its first conference basketball championship, has a three-game lead over Duke with six games left.

Miami's next game is against Virginia Tuesday. Tipoff is at 9 p.m. at the BankUnited Center, where the Hurricanes haven't lost all year.

Miami also is No. 2 in the latest USA Today Top 25 coaches' poll, receiving seven first-place votes.
