Although it's fairly far inland, Anglesea Pub exudes a nautical feel, thanks to detailed decor inside and a location that allows it to sprawl along a small canal. >> Read the full bar review

Takeout service: I've finally found a place where the meatloaf is tasty and light as well as a bargain ($7.95). It comes with mash (as in potatoes), gravy and veggies. The portions are large. The meatloaf is light and made with lots of eggs and breadcrumbs plus onions, peppers and seasonings. Another item that must be mentioned is the Cornish chowder ($4.95, bowl; $3.95, cup). This is from an old English recipe, a combination of New England clam chowder and conch chowder plus extra seafood and sherry. It's made with clams, conch, shrimp, crab, whitefish, onions, peppers, garlic, carrots, celery, potatoes and tomatoes. This is a rich and flavorful combination. Mine tasted like the fish and shellfish had just been caught. A bowlful could have been dinner for me. Anglesea offers a nice option for sharing: with a $3 charge you get a plate with two extra sides. Also, substitutions are OK. This is a large, spread-out place where you can come by boat. -- Florence Smith (September 29, 2005)
