Former President George H. W. Bush and wife Barbara celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.

Former First Lady Barbara Bush expressed again her thoughts that enough members of her family have run for president, expressing hope that son Jeb -- Florida's 43rd governor -- won't run.

Speaking on C-SPAN, the former first lady, wife of America's 41st president, George H.W. Bush, appeared fully recovered from the bout of pneumonia she suffered earlier this month. She said there are other families who could step up. She mused about "the Kennedys, the Clintons, the Bushes."

The important thing, she said, is her family members are serving the public.

"There are a lot of ways to serve and being president is not the only one," she said. "I would hope that someone else would run. Although there is no question in my mind that Jeb is the best qualified person to run for president.

She's said that before. On Thursday, she added a firmer position.

"But I hope he won’t," she said, "because I think he’ll get all of my enemies, all his brother's, all… and there are other families."

Jeb Bush humorously replied on Twitter last night, tweeting, "What date is Mother's Day this year? Asking for a friend."

And in November, after his mother had made similar comments, Jeb Bush had this to say in a an "American Conversation" discussion with Fordham University law professor Thane Rosenbaum before an audience at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. It was podcast:

“So, does everybody have a mother in the crowd? I love my mom. And I listen to my mom. But I don’t always agree with her," Bush said, answering a question from the audience. "Even  when I was a teenager, I would listen respectfully and never always follow what she’d said, even though she was probalby right. And now at the age of 60 I really feel I don’t have to, like, listen to every word she says. At some point you gotta make these decisions kind of like a grownup.

"I love my mom, she’s really spectatular," he continued. "But that doesn’t necessarily mean I agree with everything she says. And that’s vica-versa; she doesn’t always agree with everything I say either.”
