This is the full video posted by Clearwater's Lori Koch of her daughter, Claire, signing to her parents during a Christmas concert. It has since gone viral and inspired good cheer all over the world.
She kind of looks like Cindy Lou Who, and she can probably grow your heart three sizes today. Her name is Claire Koch, and she's a 5-year-old kindergartner from Clearwater, Fla.
What makes her special? She knows American Sign Language, and during a holiday concert, she uses it to sign what her class was singing to her two parents, who happen to be deaf.
Why? Because she wanted her parents to understand her.
Her mother Lori Koch posted the video to YouTube on Monday and by the end of the week it has more than 3 million page views.
The little blonde girl's enthusiasm is infectious. I especially like the in Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer the sign for "you would even say it glows."
In light of the negative news about sign language that came in the wake of the interpreter at the Nelson Mandela memorial, I've got nothing but: thank you.
