Zimmerman says he wants to be a lawyer

In an interview Monday with CNN, George Zimmerman said his murder trial was a miscarriage of justice and that he feels like a scapegoat.

Zimmerman said he was a scapegoat for "the government, the president, the attorney general."

Chris Cuomo, anchor of CNN's "New Day," asked why they would be scapegoating him.

"I don't like others speaking for me, so I try to give other people the benefit and not speak for them," Zimmerman said. "I don't know what they're thinking or why they're thinking it, all I know is that is that they're doing it. I don't know what agenda they have."

Zimmerman was acquitted in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin. He stressed that "two law enforcement entities stated that I had acted within the laws of our nation, in self-defense."

He didn't buy Cuomo's statement that Martin was the lone victim in the case.

"I certainly was a victim when I was having my head bashed into the concrete and my nose broken and beaten," Zimmerman said. "I wouldn't say I was not a victim."

Sitting through the trial, Zimmerman said he drew on his faith in God.

"I know that ultimately he's the only judge that I have to answer to," he said. "He knows what happened, I know what happened, so I'd leave it up to him."

Zimmerman was adamant about where he'll live. "I'll never leave this country and I'll leave my home when I want to leave," he said. "I know this sounds stubborn, maybe ideological, but I'll move when I want to."

He said he doesn't pay attention to people who say he was a vigilante out looking for trouble the night he killed Martin.

"I don't focus on them. I deal with their hatred by loving my supporters more," he said. "I take what they say to heart more."

Zimmerman noted that he doesn't watch TV news these days. "I guess I should've prefaced this interview by letting you know that I don't watch news anymore." he said. "I watch comedy shows, home improvement shows."

He dismissed the idea that he's the face of stand your ground laws. "I'm not comfortable being the face of anything, to be honest with you," he told Cuomo.

Zimmerman gave an interview to Univision that aired Sunday.
