A young girl's compassion sparks controversy on Facebook.
A 9-year-old girl was suspended from her Colorado school for violating the dress code after she shaved her head to support a friend who's currently battling cancer, ABC 7 is reporting.
Kamryn Renfro's story has been shared across the web after her mother posted to Facebook on Sunday expressing her disappointment in Caprock Academy's decision to suspend her daughter.
"We do sign that we understand and agree to the rules every year...but honestly, I never thought my 9 year old daughter would do something so courageous, brave and selfless," Jamie Renfro wrote on Facebook."
"I have to wake a little girl up tomorrow, who was excited to go to school and talk to her peers about what she had done and why, and I get to try to explain why she can't do that without making her lose her spirit or feel like she is being punished for something so amazing."
Kamryn made the decision to shave her head as a move to support her best friend Delaney Clements who is fighting cancer for the fourth time and has lost her hair from the chemotherapy.
The outpouring of support for both Kamryn and Delaney must have struck a chord with administrators because they decided Monday to allow Kamryn to return to school. They'll also meet Tuesday to discuss a possible revision to the school dress code.
