Two South Florida chefs have moved from semifinalists to finalists for the prestigious 2013 James Beard Foundation Awards.
Jeff McInnis of Yardbird Southern Table & Bar in Miami Beach is nominated in the best chef South category along with four chefs who cook in New Orleans.
Hedy Goldsmith of Michael's Genuine Fod & Drink in Miami, is among five finalists for the outstanding pastry chef award.
Also up for an outstanding restaurant award is Alejandro Barrios-Carrero, a Venezuelan architect and interior designer, who designed Juvia, the penthouse restaurant on top of off Herzog & de Meuron’s parking garage on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach.
Finally, San Francisco chef and restaurateur Michael Mina, whose Bourbon Steak is inside Turnberry Isle Miami resortin Aventura, will be inducted into the Who's Who of Food & Beverage in America. The award honors "renowned culinary professionals who have made a significant and unique contribution to the American food and beverage industry."
Awards will be given May 6.
