Miami restaurants celebrate National Burger Month

May is National Burger Month and Miami restaurants are showing off their burger prowess.

At Michael Mina 74 (4441 Collins Ave., Fontainebleau Miami Beach, 877-326-7412,, each week will bring a different $26 burger, starting with the Puebla Burger, which incorporates Mexican flavors in honor of Cinco de Mayo.

At Meat Market (915 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, 305-532-0088,, special burgers, $15-$19, offered this month include the Prime smoked short rib burger.

Chef David Bracha of Oak Tavern (35 NE 40 St., Miami, 786-391-1818,, will add House ground sliders ($12), a blend of skirt, chuck and strip steak with oxtail marmalade, peppered jack and fried shallots.

Chef/owner Alberto Cabrera of Bread + Butter | pan con mantequilla (2330 Salzedo St., Coral Gables, 305-442-9622, will preview his upcoming Frita Shop with a pop-up every Wednesday in May inside his restaurant. A frita is sometimes called a Cuban burger.

Cabrera’s fritas ($3.50-$8.50), offered 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m. every Wednesday, will  start with house ground natural Angus beef blended with his own Heritage pork chorizo. Look too for house-made hot dogs and chicarrón skewers.
