The only South Florida restaurant to receive a 2013 James Beard Award is Juvia (1111 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, 305-763-8272, JuviaMiami.com).
This one wasn’t for the chef, but for outstanding restaurant design.
The prize goes to Caracas-based architect and interior designer Alejandro Barrios-Carrero.
Juvia is spread over 10,000 square feet indoors and outdoors and features a retractable roof and a 22-foot vertical plant wall. The best thing about the restaurant is the breathtaking view from its perch on the top of the parking garage designed by Swiss architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron.
Juvia opened in February of 2012.
