Just behind the Byblos restaurant in the midst of Miami Beach madness is a newly revamped club called Envie. The club held its grand opening on Tuesday, April 25, though it had a soft opening in the weeks leading up to the launch.
“Envie” is a French word that translates to “desire,” though Charles Khabouth, one of owners, says it has many meanings.
“The name could mean a lot of things,” says Khabouth, owner and CEO of Ink Entertainment, which is a partner and operator of Envie and Byblos. “It just has to do with life and happiness. It’s more of a happy word. It’s more of a positive-energy word that means something.”
Envie is a small space with a big bar stacked with hundreds of illuminated bottles. Drinks cost about $20 with tax and gratuity, which is included, though the bar serves no specialty cocktails.
The club offers bottle service, with 16 plush, velvet couches and tables decked with lit-up, pink Dom Perignon ice buckets. The cost of a table starts at $400.
Once those are full, there’s not much room for anyone else. There’s no dance floor, and those without tables are left standing in narrow, cluttered aisles..
“I think the longevity in the club [depends] on how much fun the people have the night before,” Khabouth says. “For me, it’s the whole picture: Take care of people [and] make sure they’re happy, [and] they’ll come back.”
Envie is open Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Tuesdays are dedicated to hip-hop, while Fridays and Saturdays are, for now, set to house music.
Envie is located at 1545 Collins Ave., in Miami Beach. Hours of operation are 11:30 p.m.-5 a.m. Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Call 786-602-2332 or go to EnvieMiami.com.
