They’re two of summer’s greatest indulgences, but beer and ice cream will collide in unexpected ways in South Florida during July’s National Ice Cream Month.
Think pineapple-cilantro ice cream floating in a mug of rum barrel-aged pina colada ale, Cookies and Cream-flavored brews, and Mexican-coffee stouts topped with scoops of cinnamon ice cream flecked with brown sugar.
Adult ice cream socials are on tap at LauderAle in Fort Lauderdale, Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park and Due South Brewing in Boynton Beach. Here’s where to find ice cream-themed beers and ice-cream beer floats.
Three ice cream-flavored beers will be on the menu during Due South’s ice-cream social noon-midnight Saturday, July 14, including mint chocolate chip, cookies and cream, and Neapolitan. The beers, tapping at noon, will be served in 5-ounce taster glasses for $3.50 apiece or $10 for a trio of flights. The Hawaiian Robbin food truck, meanwhile, will offer Italian ice and hand-dipped cones and cups. The taproom will be 21-and-older after 6 p.m.
The Oakland Park taproom will team up with Wilton Manors parlor Wilton Creamery to offer five ice-cream flavors paired with five small-batch beers at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 19. The flavors: Rum Barrel-Aged Tiramisu With Strong Coffee, Rum Barrel-Aged Batida With Coconut, Key Lime Pie Tart Ale With Mantecado, Rum Barrel-Aged Pina Colada With Pineapple Cilantro, and Mexican Coffee Ice Cream Float With Sweet Cinnamon. Tickets cost $20, and reservations are encouraged.
The long lines of sweet-toothed visitors parked at Dania Beach’s iconic Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor can often get insane. So we’re grateful for Jaxson’s portable ice-cream cart, which from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26, will sell scoops paired with LauderAle’s creamy, coconut-punched C Porter. C Porter beer floats will cost $6 each.
