Two Brazilians have introduced a South American steakhouse, grilling over mesquite charcoal briquettes, on the second floor of the Shops at Boca Grove.
Chef and co-owner Roberto Brederode’s favorite is sautéed crab with yellow peppers and coconut milk ($16).
“I used to have a shrimp farm in Brazil, and we had a natural habitat of crabs. So seafood is my passion,” he says.
Diners can choose between a rodizio-style parade of a dozen meats carved tableside with sides and a mobile salad bar ($28, lunch; $44, dinner), or signatures such as grilled chicken wings in cilantro-garlic sauce ($14), garlic sauteed shrimp ($18) and a 42-ounce long-bone tomahawk rib eye ($88).
“Our signature dessert, the Brazilian rolled cake, is my grandmother’s recipe from the city of Pernambuco,” Brederode says of the 18 thin layers of butter cake rolled with creamy guava ($10).
A semicircular line of windows provides natural light amid orange walls, burgundy tufted booths, white tablecloths and a stone-fronted bar.
Dinner is served nightly, except Mondays, and there’s rodizio-only lunch from Friday to Sunday. Children younger than 7 eat free, and ages 7 to 12 get half off. Musicians entertain Friday through Sunday.
