This Louisiana-based chain has opened its first Broward County outpost in the former 100 Montaditos, as part of its expansion to 40 locations in the lower half of Florida in the next decade.
This outlet is among the first to offer wine-based cocktails ($5.99-$8.49), such as Nutella iced latte garnished with a biscuit beignet and bacon and the Lady Marmalade mimosa.
"Instead of vodka made from potatoes or whiskey from barley, etc., the wine-based alcohols are made from grapes, which go through the fermentation process, and the alcohol is used in making the wine-based vodka, tequila or whiskey," says Sondra Wescoat, the chain's beverage manager.
The "Healthy Side" of the menu offers choices such as granola, fruit and quinoa ($10.99) and Southwestern salmon ($11.99). Six renditions of eggs Benedict, such as Crabcakes Cavallo with andouille-infused hollandaise, range from $9.99 to $15.99, and nearly a dozen omelets range from $9.99 to $14.99. New Orleans touches include biscuit beignets ($4.99).
Breakfast and lunch are served daily amid a French country atmosphere with rustic oranges, reds and yellows, plus a dog-friendly patio. Mugs feature a sunrise from the city's seal, as each location features its own design.
