Top South Florida steakhouses

My favorite steak is a well-marbled, dry-aged rib-eye, buttery tender with an almost gamy flavor. It has to be seasoned with just the right amount of salt and pepper -- maybe some garlic -- but little else. Call me a purist, and don't remind me of the time a friend seasoned a whole beef tenderloin with Chinese five-spice powder. Yuck! You'll find none of that nonsense at the six South Florida steakhouses listed below. I consciously didn't include any chains, but I've had great steaks at Ruth's Chris Steak House, Wolfgang's Steakhouse and the Capital Grille. And speaking of grills with an "E," one of the finest steak frites in the tri-counties is at Grille 66 inside Fort Lauderdale's Hyatt Regency Pier 66. You might have guessed that I had a hard time whittling down my list to a manageable six. - John Tanasychuk,
