The Florida outpost of this international chain has reopened in the renovated Iberostar Berkeley hotel after closing at the Betsy South Beach hotel in May 2016.
“Chef Carlos Torres has created some new menu items specifically for this restaurant that reflect his background and the restaurant’s location, such as foie-gras empanadas ($21) and uni toast ($22), but all of the BLT classics can be found on the menu, from prime cuts of beef ($52-$106) to the signature tuna tartare ($22) and, of course, the popovers (complimentary),” says Keith Treyball, president of the parent company.
Tropical notes are featured in the guava cheesecake with passionfruit ice cream, peanut butter-chocolate mousse with banana ice cream and a crepe soufflé with pastry cream and passionfruit sauce (all $12).
The Miami Heat with tequila, guajillo-chili syrup and passionfruit warms up the cocktail lineup ($17).
Three meals a day are served amid an airy, light ambiance with white sheer drapes. A wraparound patio offers alfresco seating.
“The decor is reminiscent of the original space,” Treyball says. “The ambiance is steakhouse chic with warm tones perfectly matched to original Art Deco features like the beautiful tile floors. Plus, lots of wood and natural tones and custom lighting.”
