Coyo Taco

1111 SW First Ave., Miami, 786-773-3337, Coyo-Taco.com

This Mexican modern taqueria opened its second location, more than a year after its founding.

"Our first location in Wynwood taught us that our target customer is looking for an approachable, fast-casual experience," co-owner Alan Drummond says. "We realized there was a void to be filled in Miami's bustling financial district. In the new Brickell location, Coyo guarantees consistency and accessibility."

Florida lobster tacos ($14), beer-battered grouper tacos with roasted jalapeño aioli ($8) and a section of sandwiches, called tortas ($9-$10), supplement signatures such as Michoacán-style duck confit tacos and vegetarian quinoa and cactus tacos ($7). Their pop-up in Peru in March inspired them to change the octopus tacos to a crispy version with ají amarillo aioli.

Cocktails, such as the Don Julio Margarita, are in the works to supplement beer and sangria.

Lunch and dinner are served daily amid a sand-colored concrete floor, wall-to-wall windows, accents of royal blue and aqua that match a royal-blue picnic table, painted corrugated metal behind the service counter and Mexican stone-inspired walls. Covered outdoor seating lends a lounge feel.
