A former partner of Lynora’s Osteria in West Palm Beach has unveiled this classic Mediterranean venture in the Esplanade in the former Gigi’s Tap and Table.
“It's a balance of fresh and light options, as well as savory, rich dishes,” says Sascha Bennemann, owner with his wife, Danielle. “My inspiration arose from living and working in Italy and spending summers in Spain, Morocco and the South of France. I had my ninth-grade Palm Beach Day school graduation where this restaurant now stands.”
Executive chef David Valencia, who hails from Meat Market in Palm Beach and Caviar Russe in Miami, crafts Greek or Turkish mezze platters ($16), charred Spanish octopus ($19), salt-baked branzino ($38) and chicken tagine ($55 for two).
The Acqua Giardino cocktail goes veggie with gin, romaine, celery, lime and chickpea water ($13), and Greek yogurt liqueur laces the Grie Go cocktail with rum ($15).
Whitewashed surroundings integrate blue shades of the Mediterranean Sea, bubble-shaped chandeliers and Cuban tile fronting the bar. Terrace seating overlooks the courtyard.
“It’s unique to Palm Beach,” Bennemann says, “light, bright and airy.”
Dinner and lunch are served daily with weekend brunch to come. A grab-and-go market will open this spring.
