Celebrities Emilio and Gloria Estefan have added to their restaurant concepts with this fine-dining Cuban venture in Palm Court plaza.
“We are honored to be the first Cuban restaurant in Miami's Design District and to bring our culinary heritage to this world-class shopping, arts-and-entertainment destination,” Emilio says. “Estefan Kitchen will present traditional family recipes in a new, healthy way.”
Corporate chef Odell Torres, who also oversees the Estefans' Larios on the Beach and Bongos Cuban Café, offers twists such as flatbread with roasted pork and plantains ($14); roasted pork, plantains and cilantro sauce atop black bean-and-rice cakes ($12); short ribs in criollo-wine sauce ($24); and paella with six kinds of seafood and plantains ($70).
Popular cocktails include mojitos ($15-$16), Gloria's recipe for Glorious Cosmopolitan ($16) and mango-passion sparkling sangria ($12).
Lunch and dinner are served daily amid a monochromatic scheme inspired by 1950s Cuba with mosaic murals, an art-deco column and a 34-seat, oyster-shell-mosaic bar, plus indoor-outdoor bar and seating in the courtyard showcasing art installations.
A pianist performs for lunch daily and from Thursday through Saturday nights.
The express café, which opens at 9 a.m., offers grab-and-go items and diverse beverages.
