Greek-influenced LG's Uptown Eatery opens for breakfast and lunch

6303 Powerline Road, Fort Lauderdale, 954-900-3363,

George Cotsopoulos recently bought the BBQ Box and converted it to this weekday breakfast and lunch spot.

“The inspiration comes from my Greek heritage and my younger years working in New York City and New Jersey restaurants,” he says. “Our niche is American cuisine with a Greek flair. We are located in an area that is referred to as Uptown, so our place has taken on the name.”

Some barbecue is still here, such as pork or chicken tacos ($2.75), egg rolls with barbecue pork or chicken ($2.99), pulled chicken ($7.99) and pulled pork ($8.99).

“We intend to provide fresh, quality food with a great flavor at a fair price and to create a relationship with all our customers,” Cotsopoulos says.

The Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a roll ($5.29) is a nod to New Jersey. Other breakfast items include omelets ($6.99-$8.29) and egg quesadilla or burrito ($6.29).

Spanakopita is his mother’s recipe ($7.99 with soup or salad). Other highlights include lamb/beef or chicken gyro with tzatziki sauce ($7.99), roast turkey sandwich ($7.99) roast beef sandwich ($8.99) and housemade tuna salad wrap ($7.99).

String lights dangle over mint-green walls enhanced by New York artwork.
