A couple has opened their second location in the former Parrillada & First Bistro to complement the original west of Boca Raton on Glades Road.
“After eight years of working to present Colombian food as a different alternative, fresh, healthy and economical, our clients suggested we open another location in the east since many of them work or live in East Boca,” says Juan Maya, owner with his wife, Viviana Molina. “We also have a variety of dishes representative of other Latin American countries, among them Mexican fajitas ($12.99-$13.99), Cuban ropa vieja ($10.99) and Peruvian lomo saltado ($11.99).”
Maya hails from Medellin, Colombia, where he acquired recipes from his parents’ restaurants and bakeries, such as banana-leaf-wrapped tamal with chicken, meat, potatoes and carrot ($8), hen soup on weekends ($11.99), oxtail soup on Sundays ($11.99), grilled chicken breast with Creole sauce ($11.99) and churrasco steak ($15.99).
Margaritas and sangria ($6.99) kick off the meal while passionfruit mousse and figs with caramel and cheese (both $3.50) finish it off.
Wood furniture and memorabilia emulate a vintage setting with cameras, vinyl records and black-and-white photographs on rustic walls.
Three meals are served daily, and the restaurant closes early at 6 p.m. Sunday.
