Domus Italian Restaurant and Lounge

A European family from Montenegro has transformed the former Piattini Restaurant and Lounge in Royal Palm Place into a contemporary, sophisticated space.
"Domus is Latin for home. We serve each guest as though they were a family member coming to visit," says Emil Nikezic, whose family also owns the restaurant at Sea Lord Hotel and Suites in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. "Coming from Chicago, we take a big-city approach, yet with the warmth, grace and feel of a small town."
The Nikezics take a lighter approach with olive oil, wine and lemon and a restrained hand with garlic for classics such as Sicilian fish salad ($18), The Best Spaghetti & Meatballs Ever ($25), crispy brick chicken ($29) and shrimp and veal Francese ($32). A touch of Greek infuses daily specials.
Nikezic's favorite, the Domus Antibiotico with vodka, pomegranate and orange juice ($12), will be on the cocktail menu due out soon.
Lunch and dinner are served daily amid crystal chandeliers, a central bar, white tablecloths and a coffered ceiling. Sliding doors open onto wraparound sidewalk seating with draperies.
Dinnertime musicians perform from Thursday through Saturday nights, and a different round of entertainment is planned for the late crowd.
