Frank & Dino's
39 SE First Ave., Boca Raton, 561-218-4636, FrankAndDinos.com
After seven years, this Rat Pack-themed, Southern Italian restaurant has moved from Deerfield Beach into the former Merlino’s with a startling design change from traditional to modern.
“We think our core of clients are from Boca Raton, especially downtown,” co-owner Carlo Vaccarezza says. “Boca Raton has became a mini New York City with new restaurants opening, shops and a vast amount of walking traffic. The needs of this cosmopolitan area are much different and demanding.”
The lighter setting of white and gray integrates semicircular booths, upholstered furniture that shimmers, bubble-shaped chandeliers, photographs of Frank Sinatra and a deep-blue velvet banquette beside the bar. The covered side patio incorporates wicker chairs, TVs and fans.
Menu additions are roasted beets with goat cheese ($14), bacon-wrapped scallops with mango sauce ($17), shrimp and cannellini beans with bruschetta ($19.50) and short ribs atop mashed potatoes ($36). Pan-roasted veal chop with sausage, peppers, onions, olives and balsamic vinegar ($46) joins six other veal dishes ($28-$44).
Housemade desserts change daily, but tartufo is the signature ($8). Espresso and lemoncello martinis can be requested ($12-$13).
Dinner is served nightly. Sinatra-centric live music is performed Tuesday through Saturday.
