Rare craft beers don't last long in South Florida. Often, when a new beer is released, people run to liquor stores and buy it in bulk.

Julian Siegiel, co-owner of Riverside Market and Cafe, often orders those beers. But he doesn't sell them right away.

"I'm like the Robin Hood of beer," he says. "I'll buy them all. Hang on to them, and do an event and invite the world."

Riverside Market will release several rare craft beers during American Craft Beer Week, running Monday through Sunday, May 18. May 12-18. Other restaurants in South Florida, such as Tap 42 Bar and Kitchen and American Social, will host events throughout the week.

"It's a chance for people to really celebrate more than beer," says Bobby Heist, craft beer director at Tap 42. "A lot of these people put their heart and soul in every batch they brew, and it’s a way to appreciate their form of art."

Tap 42 will offer daily events next week, including a New Belgium Ranger IPA Sampling on Thursday and the Terrapin Tap Takeover on Saturday.

Riverside Market will host events from Monday through Saturday, with Cigar City Night on Tuesday and Georgia on My Mind on Monday, when they’ll host a battle among three breweries from the Peach State.

American Social’s events include an American craft beer trivia night on Monday and a Magic Hat experience night on Thursday.

"American craft beer is growing, and it’s delicious," says Paul Greenberg, co-owner of American Social. "We enjoy introducing people to craft beer because it's different. It's unique."
