Sbe, which operates hip concepts such as SLS Hotels and The Bazaar by José Andrés, has unveiled this joint venture: a new beachfront building at the end of Hallandale Beach Boulevard with a spa, fitness center and open-air breakfast-and-lunch eatery on the first floor and a members club on the third floor.
The second floor boasts an upscale restaurant, serving dinner nightly, with a Mykonos-style ambiance of teak lampshades, bamboo-lined ceiling and indoor/outdoor bars crafted from monkey-pod wood.
The seafood-oriented lineup includes pumpkin butter rolls ($7), wasabi tuna tartar ($14), lamb gyro ($14), oxtail bucatini ($16), carbonara pizza ($15) lobster pasta ($18) and branzino ($28). Lunch is to come.
"I wanted it to be fun and creative with lots of different styles of cooking," says executive chef Danny Elmaleh, who hails from the Cleo restaurant chain. "We have Asian, American and Mediterranean influences in a cuisine we call New American. We use a special smoker grill called a Josper that enhances the flavors and preparations."
