South Florida bars have turned Mayan in the face of the ancient Central American expiration date for the planet.
On Friday, Dec. 21, Tap 42 will tap a keg of Unibroue's La Fin Du Monde triple golden ale to wave the Earth goodbye. While Five Points Lounge acknowledges there's no certainty the world will end, the bar's party will still rage Friday starting at 10 p.m. There's no cover for guests 21 and older, and two local bands will perform. (Facebook.com)
The Culture Room invited the Heavy Pets to jam showgoers through the end of the world. Tickets cost $17.55 at Ticketmaster.com.
The Green Room advises on its Facebook event page that guest "get dunk [sic] before midnight," when the venue will charge no cover and offer two-for-one drinks. Resident DJ LinderSmash of Black Friday events will play his usual set, but guest DJs will also have time allotted, including birthday boy DJ Machinist.
Tobacco Road throws a party regardless of the occasion, and the century-old Miami bar will commemorate Mayan lore with $2 drinks Friday night. (Facebook.com)
Grand Central will host a lineup of local bands, including hispter favorites Little Beard and Deaf Poets. Guest 21 and older can RSVP for free entry, and will receive complimentary vodka from 11 p.m. to midnight. (Facebook.com)
STK Miami will provide a dinner party for those who want to "go out" in fancier style. Electro-Caribbean locals Afro Kumbe will play a set while guests sip on free Don Julio cocktails from 9 to 11 p.m. and watch dancers dressed in Mayan Attire. (Facebook.com)
Respectable Street Cafe has planned an evening of music, free food and henna tattoos during the venue's weekly Flaunt party. From 8 p.m. until guests go home, or disappear in an end-of-days rapture, but the party is Thursday night. (Facebook.com)
