Lovers of Alaskan-born indie-prog rock rejoice: Portugal. The Man is coming to Revolution this October.
Although it seems like this band's multilayered sound could fill an auditorium the size of the Fillmore, the Fort Lauderdale venue will do a good job of getting fans close to the stage and offering various angles for what should be a lovely stage show.
The group's seventh album, "Evil Friends," came out this month. Check out the video for the eponymous single below.
The difference between Portugal. The Man and other groups with eccentrically punctuated names -- say, Fun. or Panic! At the Disco -- is that, despite his band's irrefutable "Portlandia" vibe, John Gourley's vocals augmented by rolling bass lines and progressive synths make 2008's "Censored Colors" an album you wouldn't mind listening to on repeat. So the period is tolerable.
"Evil Friends" was produced by Danger Mouse, and his influence is evident in the album's instrumental clarity.
Tickets for the October 9 show cost $25 plus fees at JoinTheRevolution.net.
