May is National Burger Month and Miami restaurants are showing off their burger prowess.
At Michael Mina 74 (4441 Collins Ave., Fontainebleau Miami Beach, 877-326-7412, Fontainebleau.com/web/dining/Michael_Mina_74), each week will bring a different $26 burger, starting with the Puebla Burger, which incorporates Mexican flavors in honor of Cinco de Mayo.
At Meat Market (915 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, 305-532-0088, MeatMarketMiami.com), special burgers, $15-$19, offered this month include the Prime smoked short rib burger.
Chef David Bracha of Oak Tavern (35 NE 40 St., Miami, 786-391-1818, OakTavernMiami.com), will add House ground sliders ($12), a blend of skirt, chuck and strip steak with oxtail marmalade, peppered jack and fried shallots.
Chef/owner Alberto Cabrera of Bread + Butter | pan con mantequilla (2330 Salzedo St., Coral Gables, 305-442-9622, BreadandButterCounter.com) will preview his upcoming Frita Shop with a pop-up every Wednesday in May inside his restaurant. A frita is sometimes called a Cuban burger.
Cabrera’s fritas ($3.50-$8.50), offered 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m. every Wednesday, will start with house ground natural Angus beef blended with his own Heritage pork chorizo. Look too for house-made hot dogs and chicarrón skewers.
