It's the 2013 South Beach Wine and Food Festival! Ideally, I'd practice molecule splitting and be at every SoBeWFF-related event at once. But I haven't mastered that yet, so here are the things I'm most looking forward to.
El Ñosh: Simple. Latin-Jewish fusion cuisine pop-up restaurant at the Marriott South Beach (161 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach), working 6-11 p.m. Friday through Saturday. This says "Miami" better than most things can. Facebook.com.
Burger Bash: Featuring the best meats from ROK:BGR, Georgie's Alibi (Riverwalk Burger Battle champ), Charm City Burger Company (Riverwalk Burger Battle Champ, Burgie winner), Gilbert's 17th Street Grill, Cheeseburger Baby, Shake Shack and more. Hosted by Rachael Ray at the Ritz-Carlton (1 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach) at 7:30 p.m. Friday. SoBeFest.com.
Pro-tip: Chef Michelle Bernstein will be giving away Havaianas flip-flops at the event. More details to follow.
Garden to Glass: Cocktails by the men representing South Florida's cocktail culture through the nation, Gabriel Orta and Elad Zvi of the fab Broken Shaker. Think farm-to-table's liquid counterpart, made with fresh-picked ingredients. Serving drinks at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens (2000 Convention Center Drive) at 10 p.m. Friday. SoBeFest.com.
BREW FIU: Miami's beer-school pioneers will be pouring homemade suds at Thrillist's BBQ and the Blues event at the Eden Roc (4525 Collins Ave., Miami Beach) at 7 p.m. Saturday. The brew club's not announced on the official program, but president Matt Weintraub says alumni and current members have been brewing collaboration beers for the occasion. Expect to see me blog about this in the near future. SoBeFest.com.
Versaille's food truck: At the Andrew Zimmern-hosted event 3 p.m. Sunday at 3101 NE First Ave., Midtown. The iconic Cuban restaurant in Little Havana partners with the Smithfield ham company to put some wheels on their medianoches. Also very Miami, and fit for presidential candidates!
