This 17-year-old South Florida chain, based in Coral Gables, has opened its eighth location in the former Oishii Bento Pan Asian + Sushi.
“Boca Raton residents not only expect a highly sophisticated dining experience, but also enjoy and appreciate an organic way of living. So we offer organic menu items,” says chef owner Jack Punma, a Thai native. “Our design reflects the influence of Asian culture and architecture.”
Separate Thai and Japanese book-size menus offer nearly 200 items. Bestsellers are pad thai with shrimp and chicken ($16); grilled tiger prawn panang curry ($24); whole, fried Spring Break Duck with oyster-style sauce ($22); and Red Hot Fish, fried whole snapper with chili sauce ($35). Japanese highlights are Hawaiian poke salad ($14) and Sea of Love Roll with shrimp tempura and barbecue eel, topped with tuna tataki ($18).
Mango, peanuts and raspberry sauce are wrapped in an Indonesian roti crepe for dessert ($6).
A dozen cocktails ($11-$13) include lychee or pomegranate martinis.
Lunch and dinner are served daily amid a modern, chic atmosphere with white leather booths and banquettes lining gray stucco walls and a blue-lit sushi bar. Crystal chandeliers dangle over elevated tables in the rear.
