New revolution: Pier Top restaurant in Fort Lauderdale rolls out 'brunch in the sky'

This landmark hotel has reopened its famous revolving Pier Top to the public for monthly Sunday brunch, after a decade of hosting only special events.

One revolution offering a sweeping, 360-degree view from the 17th floor takes 66 minutes — a nod to the hotel’s name.

“Our Pier Top is one of Fort Lauderdale’s most iconic venues,” general manager Amaury Piedra says.

The change follows Tavistock Development Company acquiring the Hyatt Regency hotel in December 2016.

“We are investing significantly in the hotel’s revitalization to return the property as a world-class location,” Piedra says.

The buffet, dubbed Brunch in the Sky, includes bottomless mimosas and bloody marys. It costs $75 for adults and $45 for children younger than 12. A duo performs contemporary music.

Executive chef Gregory McGowan’s favorites are king salmon crudo, carved tomahawk rib eyes and sambal shrimp.

“The marbling and quality of the beef makes it superior to all other rib-eye cuts, and the king salmon is sushi-grade, which just melts in your mouth,” he says.

Reservations are recommended for seatings at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., although walk-ins are welcome up to 2:30 p.m.

Upcoming dates are May 13, June 17, July 8 and Aug. 12.
