'Pizza Wars Fort Lauderdale' airs Wednesday on Cooking Channel

Miami and Fort Lauderdale are featured tonight on two back-to-back episodes of “Best in Chow” on the Cooking Channel.

At 10 p.m., “BBQ Wars in Miami” has host Cris Nannarone looking for the best barbecue in the city. He samples baby back ribs from Sparky's Roadside Barbecue in Miami, smoked brisket form Bulldog Barbecue and a meat trio from Bo Legs BBQ. The last two restaurants are both in North Miami.

At 10:30, “Best of Chow” looks for the best pizza in Fort Lauderdale with a match-up between the meatball and ricotta pie from Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza, the Bianco di Parma from Kitchenetta and the Margherita with seafood from Dough Boys, which has locations in Fort Lauderdale and Pembroke Pines.

Each episode of “Best in Chow” features a local expert. For the Fort Lauderdale show, the producers called on Craig Agranoff, the Boca Raton-based blogger behind the decade-old

Even Agranoff doesn’t know the winner. “I was told that it’s better off I’m surprised,” he says.

Filmed in January, Agranoff says the show filmed on Las Olas Boulevard, where they asked people for their opinions of Fort Lauderdale pizza.

“It was entertaining to hear the questions they asked,” says Agranoff. “It’s exciting that a local guy like me finds himself on the national stage when it comes to pizza.”
