On the day a group of cardinals convened to vote on a new pope following Benedict XVI's resignation, a monastery of Benedictine monks blogged about delivering cases of their housemade beer to the conclave.
They delivered the cases to the Vatican Monday, March 11, so they titled their March 13 blog post "Do you know what helps select a good pope? A good beer."
The monks stocking up the cardinals pre-conclave are from the Monastero San Benedetto in Nursia, Italy. They make Birra Nursia, which is made in the style of a Belgian blonde. No word yet on how much the cardinals and newly elected pope Francis I have drunk.
