This alfresco oasis, on the Intracoastal Waterway, has debuted next to the new Bristol's Burgers in Diplomat Landing. The restaurant is a part of Diplomat Resort & Spa's $100 million transformation.
Portico's concise menu offers light Italian small plates, such as fried green beans ($7), roasted cauliflower with citrus gremolata ($7), kale salad with grapefruit, avocado and grilled croutons ($10) and charcuterie and specialty cheese boards ($16). Seven pizzas include porcini and chive ($12), arugula, smoked prosciutto and Parmesan ($13), Gorgonzola, zucchini and artichoke hearts ($13) and olive, fennel and salami spread ($14).
A tap system dispenses beer, wine and cocktails ($5-$9), including the Americano with Campari and sweet vermouth, amid a playful, backyard vibe with rustic overtones, circular bar, fire pit and Adirondack chairs. Dinner is served nightly.
"We have outdoor games like ping-pong and ring toss, so it's a perfect complement to the beach activities over at the Diplomat," says Howard Wein of Howard Wein Hospitality. "There really is nothing like it in the area, and we are happy to have Portico set the tone for what's to come at the resort in later 2016."
