Notable burger joints
Finding a good hamburger in South Florida has never been easier. Start at Georgie's Alibi, which won Fort Lauderdale's prestigious Riverwalk Burger Battle two years in a row. Both burgers are on the menu. Next up would be BurgerFi, the ever-growing local chain where each restaurant is built according to environmentally sustainable best practices. Don't forget the frozen custard. End at Shake Shack, which will open a third South Florida location this spring in Boca Raton.

Gilbert's 17th Street Grill
Gilbert's 17th Street Grill in Fort Lauderdale was the top vote getter in the Sun Sentinel's first online Best of South Florida series in 2010.
Gilbert's starts with half a pound of certified Angus beef. To hang on to their Angus certification, Gilbert said they can't add anything to the raw meat, seasoning only the exterior of each patty while being cooked on the restaurant's gas grill. Pictured is their burger with brie, bacon and fried onions with sweet potato fries. For the full review, go to this link. |
