Top vegetarian and vegan spots of South Florida

Here are six spots that take the guesswork out of restaurant meals. Four are exclusively vegan or vegetarian. Canyon Ranch Grill and Farmer's Table serve meat, but only lean, top-quality cuts.

Green Bar and Kitchen (1075 SE 17th St., in Fort Lauderdale, 954-533-7507, GreenBarKitchen.com): Elena Pezzo and partner Charles Grippo's vegan/vegetarian cafe is a long way from the spaghetti and meatballs they grew up on in New York.
But as an homage to their backgrounds, they do offer something called "living lasagna," a raw dish featuring zucchini pasta, sun-dried tomato marinara, macadamia ricotta and basil pesto. Desserts are very much on the menu here, and they include gooey chocolate-caramel pies and moist carrot cake.
