Whole Foods Market in Coral Springs gets real local from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Funky Buddha beer dinner. The menu features the Buddha's Hop Gun IPA pints for a penny and three dinner specials: Hop Gun-battered fish and chips with coleslaw, grilled rib-eye with potatoes and broccoli, and a trio of tapas. Mancini Modern Italian on Las Olas Boulevard will continue its seasonal wine-dinner series at 7 p.m. on Tuesday with Italian Bertani wines. The first dinner happened Aug. 15. The five-course menu will be fall-focused — an early transition out of summer — and seats cost between $75 to $125. Call 754-200-8602 for reservations.

Steak 954 also will also present a wine-dinner series at 7 p.m. on Thursday. War of the Wines' second episode this year consists of five courses and battling Spanish and Italian wines. Tickets cost $100 per person, but dishes of bacon-wrapped dates, dry-aged New York strip and roasted fig crostata may be worth the price. Call 954-414-8333 for reservations.

Blue Plate Restaurant at the Seminole Hard Rock invites all Labor Day revelers staying at the hotel to come down for brunch in their pajamas. Blue Plate's DJ PJ Brunch costs $12 every weekend from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a free Bloody Mary or mimosa for anyone in sleepwear. From Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, Bloodys and mimosas will be bottomless for an additional $8. Check for details.

American Social will also host a Funky Buddha beer dinner, so don't worry if Whole Foods' option is not for you. At 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 3, diners will start the five-course meal with AmSo's surprisingly good house-made sushi rolls paired with Blueberry Cobbler Wheat Ale. For dessert, it's the Nib Smuggler Chocolate Porter and cream-filled beignets. Dinner costs $60 per person. Call 954-764-7005 for reservations.

The Riverside Market will award the best boulder tosser free Boulder Beer Company brews all night on Sept. 4. Whoever tosses a boulder the farthest will win. The contest will go on from 6 to 8 p.m. It's unclear where the boulders will come from. Visit for updates.
