A 400-pound-plus comedian with a broken moral compass, Ralphie May is an equal-opportunity offender during standup, ranting on sex, abortion rights and the recent government shutdown with an Arkansas drawl. May, a breakout comic from the first season of NBC's "Last Comic Standing," will perform 8 p.m. Monday and 7 and 10 p.m. Tuesday at the Fort Lauderdale Improv (5700 Seminole Way, Hollywood), drawing on material from his most-recent Showtime standup special, 2012's "Too Big to Ignore." $25, with two-drink minimum per person. 954-981-5653 or

The party-abundant warehouse space operated by C&I Studios wants your New Year's Eve experience to be especially freaky. The music, graphic design and film production firm in FAT Village (541 NW First Ave., Fort Lauderdale) is hosting "Let's Get Weird," a gathering (or "non-lame music thang," as organizers have dubbed it) that will include music from the indie-rock act Civilian, as well as access to C&I's expansion space of pop-up businesses, "Next Door," which is selling coffee by Brew Urban Café, craft brews from the Riverside Market Café and cigars. Food trucks, photoshoots, live art demos and, yes, a special brand of madness should round out the evening's eclectic vibe. 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. Free. 954-357-3934 or C-istudios.com.
