Rainbow flags, beach bods and colorful wigs will line the sidewalks of Ocean Drive on Sunday during the Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade.
Grammy winner Gloria Estefan and choreographer Kenny Ortega will lead the way in a vintage Rolls-Royce as the grand marshals of this year's event, which expects to attract 80,000 spectators and celebrates the city's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.
Expect to see plenty of skin when the parade — whose participants include Equality Florida, Florida International University and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force — takes over the beachfront for the sixth year in a row.
After the parade, local drag queen and "Real Housewives of Miami" star Elaine Lancaster will emcee onstage at Lummus Park while DJ Lady Bunny spins. Courtney Act, an Australian contestant on the current season of Logo TV's "RuPaul's Drag Race," will then take the stage before fireworks light up the sky at 9 p.m. The event will end with a free closing party at the Clevelander Hotel.
Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade will begin 11 a.m. Sunday, April 13, on Ocean Drive between Fifth and 15th streets. Several parties leading up to the parade will take place Friday and Saturday. Go to MiamiBeachGayPrideParade.com.
