As Joe Nichols' current song says: Sunny and 75...

The WKIS Chili Cook-off is under way today and the sun is shining and the chili is bubbling. A crowd of 22,500 is filing in to C. B. Smith Park and the dress of the day is shorts, tank tops and boots.

Teresa and Cecil Altrip and their daughters, Chloe, 17, and Madison, 14,  got to the Pembroke Pines Park at 5 a.m. Teresa made eggs and bacon for breakfast to pass the time, and the Coral Springs family rushed for a spot when the gates opened at 8:30 a.m.

They set up a blanket near the very front of the stage and the parents planned to pace themselves on the beer, planning to quit when Rascal Flatts comes on around 4:15 p.m.

"I got my spot, I got my T-shirt and now I'm set," said Teresa Altrip.

The other acts: Brantley Gilbert, Thomas Rhett, Joe Nichols and Cassadee Pope.
