The wrap-up of another "Saturday Night Live" season means that the new "Weekend Update" co-anchor, Colin Jost, is freed up for stand-up appearances, one of which runs Thursday to Saturday at the Fort Lauderdale Improv (5700 Seminole Way, Hollywood). During his February appearance on "Late Night With Seth Meyers," Meyers cycled through the affable comic's old home videos, depicting a pudgier 10-year-old Jost firing "Ghostbusters" guns and slowly, angrily licking a cupcake. If that all sounds like the stuff of a squeaky-clean comedian, know that Jost was responsible for writing one of the strongest "S.N.L." sketches this season: a gross-out parody of the film, "Dead Poet's Society." Jost will perform 8 p.m. Thursday, 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday. $22, includes a two-drink minimum. (His "Weekend Update" co-host, Michael Che, will perform there July 22-23.) 954-981-5653 or Ftl.Improv.com.

Because we needed another excuse to balloon our waistlines after last week's National Donut Day, Saturday's Smoke on the Water BBQ Feast will bring tangy grilled meats and cold beer to Fort Lauderdale's riverfront. Esplanade Park (400 SW Second St.) is pork central for the 11 a.m.-6 p.m. bash, firing up with nine barbecue pits from M.E.A.T. Eatery & Tap Room, Georgia Pig, Mr. Cobbs Barbecue, Gibson's Smokehouse and others. Free admission, which includes live music, and prices start at $5 per barbecue station, $20-$25 for access to the beer garden. 954-468-1541 or GoRiverwalk.com.

At 23, Disney breakout star and pop singer Selena Gomez is perhaps too young to label her recent album and current concert tour "Revival." Call it more of an evolution of her music career. Still, this is her sixth album (five studio releases and one compilation), and while bubblegum-pop sensibilities remain in live performances, Gomez has all but shed her Disney trappings with confident sensuality, found in current singles "Good for You" (with ASAP Rocky) and "Same Old Love." Gomez will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at AmericanAirlines Arena (Biscayne Blvd., Miami). Opening for her will be the Joe Jonas-fronted pop-rockers DNCE, formed after the demise of the Jonas Brothers in 2013, whose bouncy new single "Cake by the Ocean" peaked at No. 9 on Billboard's HOT 100 chart. $36.50-$96.50. 786-777-1000 or AAArena.com
