"Mixed Nuts"

The Vanguard's 2016 Comedy Series presents this show comprised of 10 new, short comedies from some of SoFlo's funniest playwrights.

"Charles Dickens' The Christmas Carol"

"Everyone loves a good ghost story and a great Christmas story," says director Christopher Mitchell in a press release. "And with this play, you get both."

"The Eight: Reindeer Monologues"

This show is a dark comedy featuring a blistering tell-all about what really goes on at Santa's workshop from Dasher, Dancer, Prancer (aka Hollywood), Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen. This play is not suitable for patrons under 16.

"The Santaland Diaries"

Humorist David Sedaris turned his stint as an elf at Macy's during the holidays into an essay for National Public Radio and then into a one-man play, which Empire Stage produces here in SoFlo with Brooks Braselman. In the show, an out-of-work actor playing the retail "elf" Crumpet talks about elf training, bad Santas, abusive customers and soul-sucking work conditions.

"Mouse King"

Written by "Sesame Street" veteran Noel MacNeal and composer Jim Camacho, this show tells the story of "The Nutcracker," but through the perspective of the mice.

"This Wonderful Life"

Based on the movie "It's a Wonderful Life," this one-man play has actor Jeremy Kendall playing 32 characters.

"A Drag Queen Christmas"

A who's-who from "RuPaul's Drag Race" bring a Christmas-themed drag fest to SoFlo (go to DragFans.com to see the line-up).

"Tchaikovsky Christmas Spectacular"

The State Ballet Theatre of Russia presents selections from two ballets: "The Nutcracker" and "Swan Lake."

Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida's The Nutcracker

This version of the ballet classic features choreography by the Arts Ballet Theatre's artistic director Vladimir Issaev.

When: Dec. 9-11. 10:30 a.m. matinee Friday (abbreviated version), 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. matinee Sunday

Miami City Ballet's "The Nutcracker"

One of the only productions of George Balanchine's "The Nutcracker" in the nation will be staged by the Miami City Ballet in all three of South Florida's counties with a cast of over 100 dancers, including local kids.

"Great Russian Nutcracker"

Aside from the dancing from the Moscow Ballet, this version features an act II dedicated to world peace with a rose shooting cannon and a two person "Dove of Peace" with a 20 foot wingspan.

CONCERTS

"Carols By Candelight

Stephen Bishop, Kim Carnes and the Little River Band in an outdoor concert in Delray Beach culminating in the lighting of 2,000 candles throughout the audience. General admission ticket holders may bring lawn chairs, but no outside food, beverages or pets.

American Big Band's "Home for the Holidays"

The touring show American Big Band touches down in Delray Beach with a new Christmas production performed by an 11-piece band and six dancers and singers.

"Voices of Angels"

The Miami Children's Chorus sings traditional Christmas classics in front of a full orchestra, including the commissioned piece "Guachi Torito" (Little Orphan Calf) by Argentinian composer Oscar Escalada.

Broadway star Lind Eder ("Jekyll and Hyde") will co-star with the Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida for one night only, however, the ensemble will perform Dec. 16 at Sunshine Cathedral in Fort Lauderdale.
