After Earth Official Trailer #1

For one day, at least, you might as well call it the Miami Science Fiction Museum.

Hollywood elite Will Smith and his 14-year-old son Jaden are making an appearance from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Miami Science Museum, pegged to the imminent release of sci-fi thriller “After Earth,” the latest bonding project for the father-son acting duo (the last was 2006’s Oscar-bait drama “The Pursuit of Happyness”).

The free-to-the-public “special event,” according to a press release, will be used to hype the May 31 opening of the flick, concerning a teenager, Kitai (Jaden) and his pop, Cypher (Will), who crash-land on Earth 1,000 years after an apocalyptic event destroys humanity.  Will they survive? Will the blockbuster, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, have his signature twist-ending? Will Kitai and Cypher turn out to be dead for the entire movie? Perhaps to all of these questions.

Will and Jaden are due to arrive on the red carpet around 6:30 p.m., followed by a science-themed session on a stage outside the museum, where the pair will discuss the real-life science implications of “After Earth.” Other activities during the 5-8 p.m. event includes a rock-climbing wall, temporary tattoo station, food trucks and an interactive activity called “After Earth Ranger Mission.”
