Brian Piccolo Park
9501 Sheridan St., Cooper City, 954/437-2600, www.broward.org/parks
Brian Piccolo provides banked and contoured surfaces for serious cyclists, BMXers, extreme Rollerbladers and skateboarders to test their skills. The 35,000-square-foot outdoor skate park has wood ramps and decks that are used primarily by inline skaters and skateboarders throughout the week and BMXers Tuesday nights. A 4-foot mini-ramp is available for beginners, and four other courses graduate to a vert ramp that is 13 feet high with a 14-foot extension. Protective gear is required and can be rented at the facility. Competitive, Olympic-style cyclists frequent Brian Piccolo for the 333-meter, 28-degree banked velodrome track that is the only one of its kind in South Florida. Accomplished Rollerbladers can ride the 200-meter inline ramp.
