 Forget those 5Ks that require participants to wake up at dawn, swig some wheat germ and swat gnats during an early-morning run in suffocating South Florida heat. The Fantasy of Lights 5K avoids all that with a nighttime jog along a Tradewinds Park course that's lit by more than 1 million twinkling holiday lights. For the past 10 years, the run and fitness walk have served as the launch for the six-week Fantasy of Lights display that opens before Thanksgiving and concludes after the new year. More than 2,500 runners and walkers took part in last year's 5K, while roughly 40,000 cars usually see the light show in any given year. This year's 5K will take place Nov. 12.
