Jim Mandich
WQAM (560-AM), www.wqam.com
Jim Mandich no longer provides color commentary for Miami Dolphins radio broadcasts, which is not all right with us. But that doesn't mean we don't turn to him first when it comes to Dolphins talk. Rather than move to the Dolphins' new AM carrier, Sports Talk 790 The Ticket, the Mad Dog relinquished the post he'd held for 13 years to keep his drive-time talk show on WQAM. Gone is his trademark war cry, "Awwwright Miami!" which had become less frequent the past couple of seasons anyway because the team has been so lousy. Ever the upbeat presence on a radio band overrun with political loudmouths, Mandich will forever be the standard by which Dolphins broadcasters are measured because few people know the team as well and none has expressed himself with as much personality and passion.
