First, we have to thank Sun-Sentinel fashion writer Rod Hagwood for turning us on to the coolest personal-improvement opportunity ever to reach in South Florida: eyelash extensions. Originally developed in South Korea, this ray of hope for the eyelash-challenged was brought here by Ted Tippman, a hairstylist at The Strand. Tippman had traveled to Los Angeles to learn the procedure, which involves wielding two tweezers while gluing the extension to the natural lash. As Hagwood reported, the average person has 20 to 30 lashes, each one about 6 millimeters long. After the process, the extended lashes can be as long as 12 millimeters. The extensions cost between $100 and $125, based on an individual consultation, and lasts approximately six weeks.
