NORTH MIAMI'S INDEPENDENCE DAY BY THE BAY
6 p.m. FIU Biscayne Bay Campus, 3000 NE 151 St., North Miami. Featuring live patriotic music by the North Miami Community Concert Band and local R&B artists, a pop/rock band and other performances. Radio Disney AM 990 will be on hand to entertain children with games and prizes and the event culminates with a fireworks finale over Biscayne Bay at about 9 p.m. Bring a blanket, chairs and bug spray. AMERICA'S BIRTHDAY BASH
Bayfront Park, 301 N. Biscayne Blvd., Miami. A free kids' zone from 3 to 7 p.m., food and drink vendors and a view of the fireworks display on the bay is available throughout the park. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. 305-358-7550.


OLD-FASHIONED JULY 4TH AT THE BARNACLE
11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The Barnacle Historical State park, 3485 Main Highway, Miami. The ground and house are open for picnics, tours, historic presentations, music, games and crafts, including a kite-flying demonstration. 12 and older, $5; 6-12, $2; 6 and younger, free. www.floridastateparks.org. 305-442-6866.


COCONUT GROVE FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION
4-10 p.m. Peacock Park, 2820 McFarlane Road, Miami. Live music by First October and many children's activities, including a rock wall, euro-bungee, rides and coconut-tree climb. Fireworks display begins at 9 p.m. 305-444-7270.


DORAL INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
10 a.m. parade through the heart of the city, followed by a picnic and concert at JC Bermudez Park, 3000 NW 87th Ave., Doral. Live entertainment, carnival rides and games, face painting, food and refreshments, and a fireworks show. www.cityofdoral.com. 305-593-6611.


AVENTURA'S ALL-AMERICAN JULY 4TH

KEY BISCAYNE FOURTH OF JULY
