PLANTATION'S INDEPENDENCE DAY FESTIVITIES Parade begins at 9 a.m. at Broward Boulevard and Northwest 46th Avenue and ends at City Hall. A free children's carnival with rides and activities begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Park ball fields with a concert following at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. 954-452-2510. HOLLYWOOD STAR SPANGLES SPECTACULAR 5-10 p.m. Hollywood Beach, along the Broadwalk. The Hollywood Philharmonic will perform a patriotic medley from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by tropical rock from Jimmy Stowe and the Stowaways. Family entertainment including the Police Pipe and Drum Corps, the Riverside Dixieland Band, historical vignettes, face painting and balloon twisting, and characters such as Uncle Sam will be along the broadwalk. Offshore Star Spangles Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. Free shuttle buses will begin at 4 p.m. from the Fred Lippman Multi-Purpose Center, 2030 Polk St. 954-921-3404. MIRAMAR CELEBRATES INDEPENDENCE DAY 6 p.m. Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Parkway, Miramar. A free family event featuring family Olympics, live entertainment, inflatable rides and face painting. Adults can enter the All-American Apple Pie Eating Contest, and children can compete in the Bubble Gum Blowing Contest. Fireworks display will begin at 9 p.m. 954-704-1631. FOURTH OF JULY BAZAAR 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Flamingo Gardens, 3750 S. Flamingo Road, Davie. Spend the Fourth of July shopping the bazaar where you'll find jewelry, arts and crafts, antiques and collectibles. Also, visit with George and Martha Washington, see the bald eagle, and tour the native wildlife exhibits. Kids 11 and younger get a free flag visor while supplies last. INDEPENDENCE DAY FAMILY SPLASH, CRAFT SHOW AND FIREWORKS 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Pine Island Park, 3800 SW 92 Ave., Davie. A free family pool party that includes family entertainment and activities, as well as a rocking pool-side DJ. Also an arts and crafts show and a World War I and II military tank, jeep and equipment show. Country music by Shadow Creek begins at 6 p.m. on the ball fields, and fireworks begin at 9 p.m. 954-797-1076. SUNRISE'S JULY FOURTH BLAST 10 a.m. Parade begins at NW 12th Street and Sunset Strip and ends at City Park, 6700 Sunset Strip. 4 p.m. BankAtlantic Center, One Panther Parkway. Children's activities, food and beverage vendors and live music with bands beginning at 6:15 and 8 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. 954-747-4600. PEMBROKE PINES FOURTH CELEBRATION 7-9 p.m. Pines Recreation Center, 7400 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines. Free rides, game booths, prizes, patriotic arts and crafts, live musical entertainment and a fireworks show. No coolers, pets or fireworks. Bring blankets and lawn chairs. 954-435-6525. PINES BAPTIST CHURCH'S INDEPENDENCE DAY COMMUNITY PICNIC 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Pines Baptist Church, the corner of Johnson and Palm streets. Free hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and chili cook-off. Kids can decorate their bikes in red, white and blue for the bike parade. The Pembroke Pines Fire Department will visit with their trucks. 954-435-8484. FIREWORKS VIEWING 6-11 p.m. Vista View Park, 4001 SW 142 Ave., Davie. Get to the park early for the best seats to view fireworks displays from across the county. Viewers will get a panoramic view from the park's hill, the highest manmade elevation in Broward County. See the fireworks displays from Davie, Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Sunrise and possibly Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood. Bring beach chairs or blankets. No fireworks, sparklers, grilling or horses are permitted. 954-370-3792. FORT LAUDERDALE FOURTH OF JULY SPECTACULAR 1-9:30 p.m. Southeast Fifth Street and State Road A1A. DJ hosts contests and games for children of all ages, including a water-balloon toss and hoola-hoop contest. A twilight concert will begin at 4:30 p.m. with Storm Riders and at 7 p.m. with the Bulldogs. Fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. 954-828-5363. DEERFIELD BEACH ALL-AMERICAN JULY FOURTH CELEBRATION Main Beach Parking lot, one block south of Hillsboro Boulevard. Music, entertainment, food vendors and fun on the beach. Fireworks display from the International Fishing Pier begins at 9 p.m. 954-480-4433. CORAL SPRINGS FOURTH 6-9 p.m. Sportsplex, 2575 Sportsplex Drive, Coral Springs. Children's activities, refreshments for purchase, with a fireworks finale at 9 p.m. Event is free; parking, $3. No coolers or personal fireworks. 954-345-2200. POMPANO BEACH FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION City's Main Public Beach, South of Pompano Pier at Atlantic Boulevard. 8:45 p.m. The American Legion Honor Guard will be performing the 21-gun salute followed by the national anthem. Fireworks from a barge east of the pier begin at 9 p.m. Blankets and lawn chairs welcome. No personal fireworks, glass containers, alcohol or pets. 954-786-4111.
